If you have an RSS reader, and would like to keep track of what I am reading and have been putting into my BibTeX file, then check out http://soy.dyndns.org/~peter/rssbib.cgi . Note that this cgi script generates an RSS file, so that's the URL to give to your reader.

It lacks a lot of features, and it's horribly incomplete, but it works, and the parsing works, and now I don't have to think about it again for a while. If you want to see the code that runs it so that you can modify it and have your own, then check out http://soy.dyndns.org/~peter/rssbib.py

Anyhow, I like it, and I hope others find it useful.

When I click on the .cgi, Firefox asks me if I'd like to save it to disk.

That's because I had the Content-type set to application/rss+xml
It is now set to text/xml

More on what it should be set to and how there is no consensus: http://www.intertwingly.net/blog/1142.html

Okay, that's better. One comment: because the BiBTeX is in &pre&, it ends up making the width of the frame very large. The text is then justified to fit the very large frame and I have to use the horizontal scroll-bar to read everything.

Perhaps in the XML you could include latex2html output of the formatted BiBTeX, with a link to the BiBTeX entry?

Thinking no it, I'm okay with the lines breaking. So now it's not in pre /pre, it's in code /code with explicit br/ and &nbsp stuff

Do you use OSX? Because then you should be using BibDesk to work with your .bib files - it kicks ass.

Do you use a computer at all? Becausethen you could use JabRef to manage your .bib files. It apparently kicks almost as much butt as BibDesk.

Thanks for the tip. I think I’ll try JabRef out.
