B is for Biking
Oct. 1st, 2006 02:37 pmI went to the UO Club Sports open house in my capacity as the coordinator for the UO Juggling Club. While there, I also signed up to go on the occasional training ride with the UO Cycling Team (but not race - too crazy for me, thanks). I'd normally try to go with the Eugene G.E.A.R.S., but they meet at 9am, and the UO cyclists meet at 10-10:30.
So there was a ride this morning, scheduled for around 40+ miles. After a wrong turn or two, we finally completed our route (check out the elevation profile! New gmaps pedometer feature!), and by the time I got home, there were 60 miles on my odometer. Whew. Pretty hard stuff, too - I was definitely the slow guy, especially uphill. It turns out that my knee is mostly healed, but it stil only has about 60 miles in it before it starts sending me signals.
So, as a method of recuperation from all this biking, I am going to take a bath, drink a beer, read a book, and take some ibuprofen.
That should be good enough for me.
