Aug. 21st, 2003 05:28 pmOn the one hand, I feel like a total quitter. This whole AIM->jukebox thing is pretty cool. Unfortunately, mserv now has all of the features (except a nice SQL database) that I wanted it to have. So I give up. There were a few too many subtle bugs in my thing, and the SQL stuff was getting extra clumsy. I ended up learning a whole lot though - including some pretty hardcore database stuff.
So, I installed mserv from source, got ogg support going on, and tweaked mserv-php to my liking. Now, just like ChaosRanch, you can check it all out at: http://soy.dyndns.org/mserv - you can log in as username guest and password guest. Of course, it will be pretty boring to look at, and you won't be allowed to change anything. But you can see that it works! If you get a PHP error, just cancel and reload. Something odd is up with PHP and apache, and I have no idea what it is. Alright, back to research.
So, I'm defeated on the one hand, but I'm rockin out on the other. For those of you who are more knowledgable about mserv - no, you cannot connect to 4444 from the internet, thanks to the magic of firewalls.
