Chess and Geekery
Aug. 5th, 2003 11:38 pmSo I just got a chess set! Now all I need is someone to play against... If you've got the time and desire to play someone who is not good enough to have fun playing computer chess because the computers always win, but at the same time isn't overly awful, you probably already know how to contact me.
If you are in the market for one of the cool basic chess sets, I recommend http://www.wholesalechess.com quite highly. They are both cheap and good.
Also, I am an extremely big nerd. By that I mean way geeky. No. Seriously. But, in case you were looking for a pre-alpha version of a collaborative jukebox that plays both .OGG and .MP3, has an SQL backend, is written in Python and is controllable via AIM, you could do much worse than looking here: http://soy.dyndns.org/~peter/projects/fun/cwajga
Seriously. This project has Perl and Python and SQL and Shell and semaphores as well as kludges to avoid OS race conditions. Dorktastic.
