ITEM! I will not be teaching CIS122 (basically CS5/6) in Python over the summer. I will instead be teaching CIS399 - Programming in Python (an upper division elective that has never been taught before). This will be the first time the class has been taught, and I will be the sole professor, in charge of not only lectures and grading, but curriculum design as well. This is a pretty cool development. In further teaching news, it looks like I will be the instructor of record for a course next term. Also pretty cool. ITEM! Return of the King opens tomorrow. I will be watching the extended editions of the previous 2 movies via an LCD projector in the CS dept tomorrow and then we will be going to the midnight opening. Anyone who can make it is invited. Woohoo! This is a very good thing! ITEM! I get on a bus freaking early Thursday morning, take the bus to the train, train to the plane, plane to a car, car to my parents' house. Lots of travel, but it will be good to see family.

Now I must go out and purchase tickets and try to get plywood.

With regards to ITEM! the first: sweet. I hope you can share your curriculum with us, as I am interested in how one would go about such a thing. As for ITEM! the second: I don't think I've mentioned yet, I went to the theatre on Sunday to see the extended Two Towers, and there were a couple of guys out front with some bedding and a "The Line Starts Here" type sign for Return of the King.

Crazy.

Suffice it to say I am sooooo jealous of all y'all living in cities where the extended editions are come to the theaters... but our little private screening should be pretty rockin' as well.
