Please point me to news reports of electronic voting machines erring to give the Democrat candidate more votes. Conspiracies make me very uncomfortable, but so does the current state of affairs where I haven't heard of ONE error that went Democratic, and I have heard of lots of errors that went Republican.

Not much of a conspiracy is required when most (all?) of the electronic voting machines are manufactured by one company (Diebold).

Phew. Things like this help me think that it's incompetence.

From Voter smashes Diebold machine as e-voting problems crop up nationwide:

"In New Jersey, meanwhile, Republican officials are claiming that Democratic Senator Robert Menendez's name was already lit up when some voters entered the booth, causing them to accidentally choose the wrong candidate."

The real highlight of the story, of course, is the enraged voter who smashed up the devilish voting-machine with a metal cat paperweight. SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!

I was pleasently surprised to discover that Nevada uses Edge electronic voting machines that have a built in secured paper log of votes.

My machine was out of order when I went to vote yesterday - but once the attendee re-set it back up it worked nicely, and I was pleased with the printing of the receipts, not so much the privacy though... it was easy to peek over peoples' shoulders while waiting in line.

So I guess that's no partisan conspiracy, but I was interested to be part of that user experience.
